Per funzionare in maniera corretta richiede un database MySQL, e permette di creare prodotti e categorie in numero illimitato. Per questo motivo, viene inserito <strong>tra le migliori soluzioni ecommerce<\/strong> per le imprese che vogliono vendere i propri servizi e i propri prodotti su internet, anche perch\u00e9 \u00e8 completamente gratuito.<\/p>\n<p>Prendendo in esame le sue caratteristiche pi\u00f9 importanti, vale la pena di notare che osCommerce supporta <strong>tutte le valute<\/strong> del mondo ed \u00e8 munito di un supporto <strong>multilingua<\/strong>, che consente di tradurre tutte le pagine. Entrambe queste caratteristiche lo rendono ideale per coloro che intendono espandersi su scala internazionale.<\/p>\n<p>Per quel che riguarda i <strong>metodi di pagamento<\/strong> che garantisce, ve ne sono diversi impostati di default (oltre a PayPal, anche 2Checkout.com, Authorize.net e diversi altri), e oltre ad essi \u00e8 possibile configurarne altri, in funzione delle proprie esigenze. Anche il sistema di tasse pu\u00f2 essere personalizzato: insomma, con questo CMS si possono creare soluzioni su misura senza difficolt\u00e0.<\/p>\n<p>Il progetto di osCommerce ha visto la luce all&#8217;inizio degli anni 2000 e attualmente raggruppa oltre 1500 negozi online. Mettendo a disposizione tutti gli strumenti di cui si pu\u00f2 avere bisogno per dare vita a un sito ecommerce, offre un catalogo dinamico e moduli di pagamento online, ma permette anche di <strong>gestire la fatturazione<\/strong> e di amministrare i clienti. Il tutto, in una unica suite che include anche un&#8217;interfaccia di gestione delle consegne con il servizio postale. <\/p>\n<p>Occorre specificare, d&#8217;altro canto, che negli ultimi anni osCommerce ha dovuto fare i conti con un rivale che si \u00e8 progressivamente espanso e fatto conoscere: Magento. La popolarit\u00e0 di quest&#8217;ultimo \u00e8 aumentata in maniera esponenziale, e sono molte le multinazionali che sono ricorse ad esso: da Nestl\u00e9 Nespresso a Samsung, da Olympus a Nokia, da 20th Century Fox a BarackObama.com, senza dimenticare Skype. osCommerce, dunque, ha sub\u00ecto questa forte <strong>concorrenza<\/strong>, pur presentando peculiarit\u00e0 che, sotto molti punti di vista, lo rendono preferibile. Per esempio, mentre Magento ha bisogno di server ottimizzati che vengano messi a disposizione da specifiche compagnie di hosting per assicurare un funzionamento efficace e rapido, osCommerce necessita semplicemente di un <strong>hosting condiviso<\/strong>, che permette di abbassare i costi.<\/p>\n<p>Certo \u00e8 che, nei confronti di Magento, osCommerce presenta alcune lacune, che per particolari clienti potrebbero rappresentare un problema: mancano, per esempio, i fogli di calcolo e i coupon, ma anche le immagini multiple per i prodotti, il supporto per multi-store e il sistema grafico per i template. Un&#8217;altra assenza che pu\u00f2 risultare compromettente \u00e8 quella dei Tool SEO per URL e metatag. Va notato, in ogni caso, che si tratta di <strong>funzioni avanzate<\/strong>, che nella maggior parte dei casi servono solo per chi si trova a gestire un magazzino di grandi dimensioni e con grandi numeri.<\/p>\n<p>Nel complesso, dunque, OsCommerce si rivela un CMS pi\u00f9 che adatto per la maggior parte dei siti ecommerce, fornendo un servizio gratuito che propone tutti i principali strumenti di cui possono avere bisogno questi portali.
