Ora Mountain View ha deciso di allargare lo \u201cscudo\u201d ad un pubblico pi\u00f9 vasto e selezionato, fatto di ONG (organizzazioni per i diritti umani), siti di informazioni, siti di monitoraggio di elezioni. Insomma a tutta quella serie di soggetti che potrebbero essere un <strong>obiettivo sensibile<\/strong> di questo genere di attacchi.<\/p>\n<p>I <strong>DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service)<\/strong> sono una diffusa forma di attacco informatico che ha lo scopo di rendere un server, un servizio o un\u2019infrastruttura indisponibile tramite il <strong>sovraccarico della banda<\/strong> passante del server stesso. Consistono nel sommergere un determinato server con un numero talmente alto di richieste di connessione tale che tutta la banda diventi occupata. In questo modo il servizio pu\u00f2 essere reso instabile o essere messo fuori uso. Ci\u00f2 comporta naturalmente una <strong>perdita di traffico<\/strong> che pu\u00f2 costare molto ai siti colpiti.<\/p>\n<p>Piattaforme web di informazione, di ONG, di monitoraggio dei flussi elettorali o di organizzazioni che si battono per i diritti umani sono naturalmente tra gli obiettivi pi\u00f9 chiari di questi attacchi informatici che si trasformano cos\u00ec in <strong>censure forzate<\/strong>. I DDoS possono essere usati per abbattere i server di quei siti che diffondono notizie scomode, rendendo le pagine indisponibili e <strong>bloccando la diffusione delle notizie stesse<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Project Shield \u00e8 nato per contrastare questo pericolo e la censura online sfruttando la rete di Google. I soggetti con i requisiti giusti potranno fare richiesta per proteggersi utilizzando l\u2019<strong>infrastruttura cloud di Google<\/strong>.
